Our 3rd year in the lovely cottage and another great week had by all! The boys enjoy it more as they get older and we'll definitely be back every year.

A wonderful, relaxing and beautiful week with a bright, spacious cottage to warm up in at the end of the day. As well as peace and quiet there has been lots to do. The range of books on local history in the cottage provided a lot of amusement and daily excursions (magical mystery tours!) including finding the many castles, neolithic sites, abbeys and churches. Particularly useful books were Haig Gordon and Geoffrey Steele. All three walk books provided lots of ideas although the leaflet for the Torr farm walk was great. The tide chart was extremely useful both for general interest helping non-costal living people and watching coastal birds. Bast places we found for birds were Southerness, RSPB Mersehead, the Balcary cliffs (great if near-the-edge walk) and a little bay called New Mill Bay. For MTB rider, we can recommend starting with the red route at Mabie followed by Kirroughtree red route and if you are v. confident the Dalbeattie red. (7 stanes ed.) For an interesting local perspective while curling up in front of the fire, "On a Galloway Island" made me glad to be in a warm, cosy cottage and not on Hestan Island, tempting as it was to walk the sands to this nearby island. Thanks for the books, the place and the eggs, wine, flowers and shortbread. All devoured with relish and enjoyed all week. Good luck Jim & Gail.

Most relaxing Christmas ever. Good walks to take Bailey on locally. Nice having a fully decorated real Christmas Tree. Only down side was the rest of the country had a white Christmas apart from here! At least we will get home. Thank you for your lovely welcome and all the best for 2010.
